In Joint Venture ASL completed some specially designed asphalt layers at 5 arenas and galloping tracks which were used in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, co-hosted in Hong Kong, located at both Beas River and near to Shatin Racecourse.
ASL were part of the design team that worked with the Olympic Technical Committee , culminating in the produced and laying of an open graded 20mm Bituminous material after the original “sprayed” design was proven to be inadequate.
The designed material featured a large nominal aggregate, porous asphalt to facilitate a free draining material, that was still strong to act as a base for the arenas.
