ASL’s first major project linking the Northern New Territories in Yuen Long with the Tai Lam Tunnel and the newly built Tin Kau Bridge.
The project included a 3 lane carriageway widening at the toll plaza and then continuing to the tunnel. Using a site plant specially erected for the Contract ASL produced and laid over 300,000 tonnes of materials.
The whole expressway operates in a build-operate-transfer mode with a 30-year franchise and opened in May 1998.
